College Football Week 4 Results: Clemson, Michigan, and Utah Secure Significant Victories
Week 4 of the college football season kicked off conference play for many teams, and it certainly delivered.Clemson set the tone with a commanding 45-point first half against conference rival NC State, securing an easy victory that puts them right in the mix with Miami at the top of the ACC.
The early games also brought some historic moments. James Madison scored a record number of points in a first half against North Carolina, pulling off a stunning 70-50 upset. This also marked the highest points allowed by UNC in a single half. Later, Temple kicker Maddux Trujillo nailed a 64-yard field goal, the longest in 16 years and just one yard shy of the record set by Martin Gramatica.
In the afternoon, No. 18 Michigan took down No. 11 USC, relying heavily on their ground game for the victory. In another ranked matchup, No. 12 Utah managed to hold off No. 14 Oklahoma State for a Big 12 win, even with quarterback Cameron Rising sidelined.
The evening brought excitement as Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders threw a last-minute touchdown to force overtime, leading to a thrilling win as fans stormed the field not once, but twice. Meanwhile, No. 6 Tennessee had an easy time against No. 15 Oklahoma in their showdown in Norman.
To round out the night, BYU stunned No. 13 Kansas State with a decisive 38-9 victory in Provo.
